“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18, NIV)
Dear Son,
I want to give you some words of advice . . . for that broken heart you feel aching inside you right now.
I know it hurts . . . but you need to know that today is the not the end of your story, just because a girl told you to “Go live your life and forget about me.”
Son, those words were not words of love I promise . . .
When any individual shares words like these, they’re not wishing you well. They’re wishing their self well.
I really want you to understand the difference.
You’re both so young and learning so much about life right now.
And love – of course – has the capability of breaking a heart like yours . . . into pieces. But don’t let that breaking hold you back from loving again.
God has a plan for your life that is sweeter than any plan you can imagine.
A plan to keep your heart tender and sweet. And not cold and callous.
It may not feel like it right now . . . but your heart is in a perfect place for God to work a miracle.
He has a way of taking all those shattered pieces, and placing them right back together again. With His miracle-making-crazy glue of grace, mercy, and love.
Trust Jesus, my son. He will not lead you astray.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
The Lord knows you’re not perfect. Nobody is . . .
But son, learn from all you did right and wrong in loving this girl.
And just let God do His work now, in making you ready to love again one day.
With love,
Your mother and Sister in Christ
