“But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’ He answered, ‘I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.’” (Genesis 3:9-10, NIV)
Ok…. so how do I even start to be open about a dirty truth?
I guess here…..
I bought a new camera this week. You know, one of those that have a really bright flash on it.
It’s just plain-amazing what a bright light can help one see, isn’t it friend?
And sometimes, a bright light shines truth on the very things we don’t want to see.….
Because, as I began taking photos of everything within eyesight last night, light gave a witness to dust!!
Ok…. let me be clear. I knew my house was dusty. And in some spots, more than others.
But this much dust? I had no clue!
I can only sum it up this way. I saw in these photos…. Dust. More Dust. And yes…. even more dust!
What I thought was clean, was in fact really dirty.
When the bright light, from my camera, hit the surface of my wooden furniture and floors…. oh my!!
There was nothing beautiful to see, because the dust just kinda took hold of my total focus and sorta stared right back at me.
So as I woke up this morning and thought about what today’s daily chores would include…. dusting my house was definitely on the list!
Also upon awakening, I pondered what my life looks like in comparison to God’s Light….
I wondered, “What would God’s Light reveal if it shined with full brightness on my life today? Would I want to hide like Adam and Eve did, after they had eaten the forbidden fruit?”
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’ He answered, ‘I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.’” (Genesis 3:8-10)
“What will be brought to light in my life, in the Day of God’s full Light? How much in my life right now, will survive the fire?”
“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.” (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)
So I ponder now…..
Will I suffer loss in the Day, but yet be saved, even as one escaping through the flames? Or will the fire reveal gold, silver, and costly stones?
How about you, Beloved? What will God’s full Light reveal about your life? What will be left from the fire?
For me, and for you as well…. the Day to come will only reveal this Truth.
For now, I am just humbled by His conviction to seek gold, silver, and costly stones. Not wood, hay, and straw. And the need to see my life in the fullness of His Light. Not in the fullness of the world’s light.
So as I dust today, I will continue to think about my life in comparison to God’s Light and what the fire will reveal. And I will thank God for the wisdom He shows me in His Word and in the ordinary.
God bless! Love you all!!
