“And the disciples said to him, ‘Where are we to get enough bread in such a desolate place to feed so great a crowd?’” (Matthew 15:33, ESV)
Do you have a need in your life today, one you think no one cares a thing about?
Are you lacking…. Financially, Emotionally, Mentally, Relationally, Physically, or Spiritually?
Do you wish just one person… anybody, would show you even an itsy-bitsy amount of compassion?
Well there is story, straight from the Bible, to soothe your craving! Readers of God’s Word usually refer to it as..… “Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand”.
If this is a new story dear one, Jesus has been waiting to share it with you.
However, if you have heard this story before, approach it now in a new refreshing way.
He has something to say, straight to your heart, in regard to your lack…. watch how it speaks to your soul all over again.
“Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, ‘I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.’” (Matthew 15:32)
Do you see Jesus’s compassion for the crowd?
Well dear one, He has compassion for you in this same way. He sees your need before you even see it yourself.
Jesus knew the crowd was hungry. He saw their need and lack. But the disciples were lacking faith. See for yourself…..
“And the disciples said to him, ‘Where are we to get enough bread in such a desolate place to feed so great a crowd?’” (Matthew 15:33)
Do you look around and feel this same way? Like there is a lack?
If so, you are exactly where Jesus wants you to be.
He can now do a miracle in your life…. Watch and see!
“And Jesus said to them, ‘How many loaves do you have?’ They said, ‘Seven, and a few small fish.’” (Matthew 15:34)
How could this ever be enough to feed them all?
Well…
“And directing the crowd to sit down on the ground, he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over.” (Matthew 15:35-37)
Do you let Jesus direct you when you are severely lacking?
Are you obedient to His directions? Do you sit when He says, “Sit”?
Because of their obedience, the whole crowd ate….
Every single man, woman, and child! And yet, they still had broken pieces left over when they took the seven baskets up.
Do you know how many ate?
“Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. And after sending away the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan.” (Matthew 15:38-39)
Can you even imagine the crowd in your mind? 4,000, plus some? This is crazy, right!?!
Sitting and eating, after following Jesus for three whole days….
Oh my, what a glorious sight this must have been to witness! To see Jesus Christ in the flesh feeding the crowd that followed Him.
Do you see the lesson for each of us here?
What we see as lack, Jesus turns into abundance!
Jesus still does this today….. Stop and look around. Right now. Today. Witness it for yourself.
Reflect and Take to Heart
Dear friend.… If you are part of the crowd, called the church, following Jesus Christ…
Follow His directions precisely,
Be swift in obedience,
Offer up all of your lack,
Give thanks for what He is about to do,
And then, see Jesus turn your lack into over-abundance…. so you can give Glory to God for meeting your needs and the needs of others…..
Thank you for taking the time to feed on God’s Word together!
God bless! Love you all!!
