“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22, ESV)
Are you totally surrendered to God’s will…. ready to say YES to anything He asks of you?
I have battled with absolute surrender to God so many times in my life.
Yes, I have surrendered to God at many points in my life with the full intention of never saying no again. But then, what happens? I fail again.
Most of the time, I don’t even realize I’ve failed. Until, I take a pause in life.
Why do I, so often fail at total surrender?
Well, lots of reasons……
Scared of letting someone down, not realizing I am letting God down.
Letting my emotions rule the day, not walking in the Spirit of self-control.
Thinking I know best, not remembering that God knows best.
Having total impatience, not understanding that doing nothing is still doing something.
Saying yes to too many things, not leaving room for the best yes.
Holding on too tight to the world, not being mindful that the world is only temporary.
And the list goes on and on…….
You may be thinking, “How do I know if I have surrendered to God?”
I like to think of it this way…..
I have ONE particular pen that I like to write with.
When I am ready to write, I pick up this pen.
This pen is totally surrendered to me.
If this pen is missing from the location it should be at, it is somewhere it shouldn’t be.
If someone else is using this pen, I’m unable to use it myself.
Either way, this particular pen is NOT able to be used.
Yes, it is the pen I prefer to use. But it is no longer….. Ready for use. For a particular task. Right now. At this moment.
So…… which are you?
Are you like that missing pen? Or like the pen being used by another?
Maybe you ARE the surrendered pen of God…. only you AND God know.
Remember God’s Word says….
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22)
Stay surrendered so you can say, like Paul of the Bible…..
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
God bless!! Love you all!
