Confidence in God
Written by Nichole LaPointe
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8-9).
Joshua had the Book of the Law—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy—when entering the Promised Land. These books weave a story of history, instruction, law, promise, and wisdom.
God’s Word in these books would encourage Joshua and the Isrealites of God’s sovereign love for them. And, God’s Word would give them the confidence in God to be strong and courageous as they entered the land where their enemy dwelled.
Child of God, we are in a fight with the enemy as we enter into our Promised Land—our eternal home with Jesus. We are called to wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience as we fight our way into our heavenly home (1 Timothy 1:18-19).
We are called to arm ourselves with God’s Word, righteousness, readiness, faith, and prayer, so that we may stand against our enemies (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Are you ready and equipped to fight your way into the Promised Land?
Heavenly Father, strengthen us as Christ followers to spend time with You each day. Give us understanding as we meditate on Your Word. Help us to live a life worthy of the kingdom of God so that we may have good success as we come nearer to our eternal home with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
