“This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.” (Ephesians 5:32, NASB)
My husband, the Mechanic, is always busy working on a vehicle. If not at his employment, it’s in our home driveway or garage.
He does all the routine stuff like changing tires and oil, but he also does the more complicated stuff that I can’t even name.
Last night, as the Mechanic was busy working away, I came and flopped down relaxingly on the pavement where he was stationed…… and just sat there and gazed as he worked.
Keenly aware of his presence.…..
His curious response to my sitting and gazing was, “What are you doing?”
From that question you can tell, I don’t go out and gaze at him often enough, or barely ever, while he works.
“Well,” I said, “I just wanted to breathe-in a little bit of life.”
He then of course, laughed at me in a very sweet way. He, like most men, love a woman who is ready to soak up their presence with a long-warm-loving-awaited gaze.
He even stopped in the middle of his work, to give me a sweet smile….
Today, I ponder at these photos from just last night…. I listen constantly for what Truth, God wants to unblind me to….
I ask Him, “What are You teaching me in the midst of everyday moments?”
I ask myself, “Why I felt drawn to plop down on the pavement last night….. and just be in the Mechanic’s presence?
Then, God suddenly carries my heart and mind to Scripture of what marriage is supposed to be…. and what marriage represents.
God’s Word says that marriage is a beautiful picture of Christ’s union with His church.
“For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.” (Ephesians 5:23-24)
“This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.” (Ephesians 5:32)
As I meditate on God’s Word, I think about how much it must mean to Jesus Christ, when we make the choice to breathe Him in. When we come ready to soak-up His presence with a long-warm-loving-awaited gaze.
I also ponder the question…. “Do I give my husband, the Mechanic, enough gazes?”
The truth is, I don’t. Sadly, I lack those precious moments with my husband, and with Jesus Christ.
And today, I am so thankful for God reminding me of this Truth.
God truly speaks, in the ordinary.
God bless!! Love you all!!
