“Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly, I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart, I will not endure.” (Psalm 101:5, ESV)
Have you ever been in a situation where you were the deliver of news?
Some receive it as good news, others receive it as bad news.
But the truth is, it could be good news for all…. if all would just receive it this way.
I am in the middle of a situation now. Not at liberty to give details, but I can sum it up this way…..
Sometimes God decides to bless people in ways that are obvious to some, while others see that same blessing as a shot to kill them dead.
But the truth is, blessings come in disguise to some because some are just too blind to see the blessing.
Or maybe, they are just too controlling from a lack of self-esteem.
Some may feel they have to hold on to everything, in order to feel good about themselves.
I think this all comes back to pride.
Isn’t pride what tossed Satan out of Heaven?
If you answered “yes”, you are correct!
Do you notice what letter is in the dead center of the word “pride”?
The one-letter word “I”.
“I” is small in size, but has huge consequences for the prideful and for those in firing range distance.
Consequences that can kill both the guilty and innocent.
Do you know “pride” defiles a person?
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” (Romans 13:3)
Do you know what else God’s Word says about pride?
“Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly, I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart, I will not endure.” (Psalm 101:5)
Do you know “pride” is a hindrance to knowing God?
“In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, ‘There is no God.’” (Psalm 10:4)
How do we change this prideful mentality in us?
I am no expert at all, but I can speak from experience….
I have at times in my life felt useless because I either didn’t get picked or was no longer needed for a particular task.
Looking back on these moments, I see God at work. He was taking me away from something…. a something that was getting in the way of me seeing God clearly.
This “something” was… me, myself, and I!
I challenge you to step out in faith with me…
Let’s together….
Start seeing the blessings of others, as God’s blessings to us all.
Let’s together….
Start seeing the blessing of others, as a way to take our minds off of ourselves.
Let’s together…
Start seeing the blessings of others, as a way to keep us humble.
God’s Word says….
“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 14:11)
God bless! Love you all!!
