The Storms of Life Are Coming
Written by Nichole LaPointe
“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9, ESV)
If you are like me and hear of a powerful storm coming your way, you make preparation. You dash off to the store to purchase water and non-perishable food. You check all the drawers for batteries and flashlights. But, most importantly, you get still in the midst of the storm.
Sweet friend, the storms of life are coming. Have you made preparation? Are you sitting with God in His Word? Are you being filled with the water and bread Jesus offers? Is the Holy Spirit filling you with the Light of His character… self-control, kindness, goodness, and forgiveness?
… If so, you are prepared for the storm.
If you are in the midst of the storm… be still and know that Jesus is Lord (Psalm 46:10). Trust Him to guide, protect, and be with you through the entire storm.
He will not leave you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). He is with you until the end.
Lord, in the storms of life, I know You will be with me, and I know I should take You at Your word. But, the truth is, my feelings do not always match up with what I know. So, I am asking You—now—to strengthen my faith. Help me be prepared for the storms. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
